Caring Tree Update April 2007

The Caring Tree was created in 1995 as a community outreach of Big Bend Hospice, Inc. The program is designed to meet the unique needs of grieving children and teens. The Caring Tree creates safe, fun, and educational opportunities in which young people and the adults around them can learn to understand and cope with loss. The Caring Tree combines short and long term services to provide comprehensive opportunities for support and education.

  • Monthly Children’s and Juniors’ Nights at Big Bend Hospice
  • Teen Nights at Big Bend Hospice
  • School and Community-Based Grief Support Groups
  • Camp Woe-Be-Gone (annual spring grief camp for children)
  • Teen Woe-Be-Gone  (annual fall grief retreat for teens)
  • Grief 101 Presentations
  • Parent and Guardian Support Meetings
  • Consultation, Networking, and Referral
  • Educational Presentations, Trainings and Workshops
  • Crisis support (as resources allow)
