Families choose Big Bend Hospice because they want to live as fully as
possible for as long as possible. They want to receive their medical
care at home, surrounded by the people and things they love. They
choose Big Bend Hospice because they want to live with dignity and
maximum self-sufficiency, free from pain and symptoms. Sometimes,
however, staying at home is not possible. Hospice House is a place for
short term crisis care when 24-hour medical supervision is required.
The House is staffed by RN's 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Each
patient is assigned a family support counselor, home health aide, music
therapist, chaplain and Hospice volunteer to help support both the
patient and the family. Medical oversight is provided by the patient's
physician and the Hospice Medical Director. Visitors of all ages are
encouraged to visit at any time.
