How your gifts have help our patients and families:

• Immediate and urgent patient needs not covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance, such as meal replacement drinks, electricity and oxygen (some hospice patients’ are not approved by Medicare or private insurance for oxygen) are provided through donations to Big Bend Hospice only after we have exhausted all other avenues of procuring these necessities.

• 100% of the Music Therapy program is funded by donations; patients would not benefit from Music Therapy without your gifts, it is not covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance.

• 100% of the Caring Tree program is funded by donations; grieving children and teens in the eight counties we serve would not receive counseling in their schools or at our centers without your gifts. Caring Tree counseling and educator training is provided in the schools at no charge to the school districts.

• 60% of adult bereavement services are funded by donations. State and federal regulations require us to provide bereavement services for our patients’ families for one full year after the death of their loved one but do not cover the full cost. Additionally, Big Bend Hospice provides grief counseling at no charge to anyone in our eight counties who is suffering a loss and needs support.
