Families deal with the difficult responsibility of caring for a companion, friend, or loved one with a life-limiting illness.
What is Music Therapy?
Many would agree that music can evoke emotions, bring a calming presence, or bring us back to a specific time and place in our memories. Big Bend Hospice music therapists utilize live music to enhance patient care in ways that CDs and recorded music alone cannot. Our music therapists sing and play guitar, keyboard, harp, dulcimer and a variety of other instruments to create positive and interactive musical experiences. Patients may participate by singing along, playing instruments or writing a song together, or they may choose to sit back, close their eyes and enjoy the music. Therapists are board certified and have completed course work in music principles and theory, psychology, anatomy and physiology, counseling and bereavement.
